Honest about where it's made.
Obsessive about how.
Honey & Lee exists because buying an engagement ring shouldn't require taking anyone's word for anything — not on the price, not on the quality, and not on where the ring was made.
The designer
Matilda Lee
Every Honey & Lee ring starts in Matilda's sketchbook. She runs every consultation herself — in our inner-Melbourne studio or over video — and designs each ring around the couple in front of her: the hand it will live on, the life it has to keep up with, and the budget it has to respect. Nothing is handed to a sales team, because there isn't one.
The engineer
Rohan Allen
Rohan's background is engineering, not retail — and it shows in the parts of a ring you can't see. He owns our published setting specification: the minimum claw thickness, shank cross-section and pavé bead size every ring is built and inspected to. Jewellery is sold on romance; it fails on mechanics. We engineer for the second part.
The supply chain, in the open
Where your ring actually comes from
Most fine jewellery sold in Australia is made offshore, usually in Thailand or India — the industry just prefers not to mention it. We'd rather tell you exactly how it works, because the route is the reason you get a better stone and a better-made ring for the same money.
- Designed in Melbourne. Your consultation, sketches, CAD and every approval happen here with Matilda.
- Stone from Surat, India. Nine in ten of the world's diamonds are cut and polished in Surat. We buy direct from cutters there — natural and lab-grown — each stone graded by GIA or IGI and Kimberley Process compliant. Fewer middlemen, better stone for the money.
- Made in Bangkok. Thailand is one of the world's great jewellery-making centres, and the same calibre of workshop the big houses quietly use. Our partner atelier casts, sets and hand-finishes every ring to our written specification, and photographs it under magnification before it ships.
- Inspected in Melbourne. Every ring is checked by our Melbourne bench against the approved design and the setting spec before you ever see it — and that same bench handles your resizes and care for life.
Because our cost base is honest, we can afford to show it to you. That's why we publish the full cost build of our rings — stone, metal, labour, freight and our margin — and why every quote you get from us is itemised the same way.
Published cost builds, itemised quotes held for 14 days, and a plain answer when something isn't worth paying for.
Every ring made and inspected to a written engineering spec — because the failures that break hearts are mechanical, not aesthetic.
A named designer, a named atelier, a tracked timeline and an unhurried consultation. Questions are the point, not an interruption.
